Lync for Android

Overview

This post provides the user with instructions to download and install Lync on your Android phone and perform common tasks. Lync 2013 is not compatible with Android tablets.

Installing and Using Lync on your Android Phone

Steps to Install and Configure Lync

NOTE: Ensure that your Android mobile device is up to date before you begin by selecting Menu->Settings->System Update and select the updates needed (Contact your wireless provider for additional help)
  1. Tap on Play Store.

  2. Enter Lync 2013 in the “Search” box.
  3. Tap Install.

  4. Tap Open when the application is finished installing.

  5. Scroll down and tap Accept in the Apps permissions box.

  6. Enter your CampusID@gsu.edu email address and CampusID password, then tap Sign In.

  7. Tap Next in the welcome screen.

  8. Tap OK in the Before You Start screen.

  9. Scroll down and tap Accept in the Terms of use window.

  10. Tap Next in the Manage Data Use window.

  11. Enter your phone number and tap Next.

  12. Tap Next in the <Sync contacts screen.

Steps to Change Your Availability

  1. Tap on the drop-down menu in your current availability.

  2. Choose your new availability.

Steps to Start a Chat

  1. Tap the name of the person with whom you want to chat.

Steps to Start a Video Chat

  1. Tap the person with whom you want to video chat.

  1. Tap the person you want to call.

Steps to Send an Email

  1. Tap the person you wish to send an e-mail to.

Steps to Update your Status

  1. Tap the “My Info” icon.

  2. Tap the What’s Happening today? box and enter your status.
